Heights Libraries, in partnership with Heights Tree People, was recently awarded a Cuyahoga County Healthy Urban Tree Canopy (HUTC) Grant to plant a one-acre mini-forest along the east side of the Coventry P.E.A.C.E. Campus building.

This is an exciting and unique opportunity to increase tree canopy in Cleveland Heights. Our project will be completed with primarily volunteer labor, guided by professional foresters, and through in-kind donations of some materials.

During the late summer and early fall of 2023, we are looking for volunteers to help us prepare the site for planting by spreading mulch. The mulch will define the edges of the mini-forest, kill grass and weeds, and improve the soil for the trees to thrive.

Volunteer Mulch Dates:

Saturday, November 18, 10am–1pm
Sunday, November 26, 1pm – 4pm *updated time

Where: We will meet at the flagpole by the entrance to the Coventry P.E.A.C.E. Campus building, 2843 Washington Blvd. Our work will be in the back field (map attached).

What to bring: Yourself, a hat, sunscreen, and a water bottle. If you have tools—such as gloves, a wheelbarrow, hard rakes, pitchforks, or garden rakes—that would be great too!

To sign up to volunteer, fill out the form to the right to let us know you will be there!
